Inaugural John A Tory Lecture with the Hon. Frank Iacobucci and Professor Benjamin Alarie (JD MA 2002)
The Faculty of Law and Rotman School of Management are pleased to present the annual John A. Tory Lecture presented with the generous support of the Tory family.
Our inaugural speaker, Professor and Dean Emeritus the Honourable Frank Iacobucci, will explore the significance of preamble in tax law, animated by the example of the new preamble to the General Anti-Avoidance Rule (GAAR) and its potential impact on statutory interpretation and jurisprudence. This special lecture and discussion, “The New GAAR and its Preamble,” will be moderated by U of T Law Professor and Osler Chair in Business Law, Benjamin Alarie (JD MA 2002).
Please note that a reception with light refreshments will be held in the Atrium at 6:00 p.m. and the talk will start promptly at 6:30 p.m.
