The University of Toronto’s Black History Month Luncheon returns with dynamic speakers and compelling performances. This annual event has become a time-honoured tradition that celebrates Black excellence while providing a welcoming and inclusive community space. This year’s Luncheon is presented under the theme Celebrating Canada, highlighting the contributions, creativity and leadership of Black communities across the country.
This year’s Luncheon will feature an address from Wes Hall, Chancellor of the University of Toronto and prominent business leader and philanthropist. Hall will join us as the event’s guest of honour and will be recognized with the Advancement Achievement Award.
We are also thrilled to welcome Kolette Easy, acclaimed Toronto-born musician and contemporary R&B artist, who will deliver a powerful musical performance inspired by iconic Canadian artists.
Adding to the celebration, Matthew-Ray “Testament” Jones, Ontario’s Poet Laureate, will share original spoken-word poetry. A celebrated poet, spoken-word artist and educator, Testament’s work has inspired audiences across Canada and beyond.
Other special guests include youth race car drivers Mayer and Decklan Deonarine.
Join us for this special gathering that honours culture, creativity and connection.
