Despite the proscription to not judge a book by its cover, people show a surprising capacity of predict information about others' thoughts, traits, and behaviours from minimal nonverbal cues.
Dr. Rule will present data illustrating how judgments of faces can provide information about who you are, how you are, and how well you do things. Specifically, how group memberships like political affiliation, religious following, and sexual orientation can be reliably inferred from faces and individual facial features; how the face can validly convey a person's health and longevity; and how information about professional success is captured from facial cues.
