Sunface Collective, with the support of EJ3Arts, presents 365 Days/365 Plays by Suzan-Lori Parks as the 2026 CDTPS Alumni Show.
In 2002, Suzan-Lori Parks wrote one play a day for a year, creating a series of short, non-linear and unrelated plays responding to her reality as a Black woman living in America. There is an aliveness to Parks' text: a mosaic of ideas that responds daily to the world around her. Parks weaves between the philosophically complex and the gentle mundane.
She invites artists to select 27 plays, in addition to three undated plays called the Constants, for a total presentation of 30 plays. These Constants act as guideposts for all 365 plays, honing in on three essential themes of Parks’ writing.
Director Teodora Djuric and Dramaturg Aria Sharma have taken plays written in 2002 and 2003, and rooted them in 2026 through a full year of dramaturgy. Their selection explores grief as movement, bad systems and divinity as sound. This show is non-linear, maximalist, political, absurd, hilarious, and very interested in experimenting with movement and sound.
365 Days/365 Plays (One-Act) is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.
