Peter Russell

Arbor Award 2009 recipient

University Professor Emeritus Peter Russell, a graduate of the Faculty of Arts and Science, has been an advocate for retired U of T faculty and librarians, providing leadership and guidance for this important group. Soon after retiring from the political science department in 1997, Peter helped create the Retired Academics and Librarians of the University of Toronto. For two years, he served as the group's president and was later named honorary president. Peter also helped create the Academic Retiree Centre (ARC), a base for retired faculty, librarians and senior administrators where they can continue their connection with and service to the university and carry on their scholarly and professional activities. Peter is co-chair of ARC's Board of Management and principal of ARC's Senior College.
