In his talk, novelist and professor Randy Boyagoda (HBA 1999 A&S TRIN), the University of Toronto’s advisor on civil discourse, explores the challenges of thinking out loud together across our personal, professional, and public lives. He’ll discuss the U of T’s civil discourse portfolio, why a commitment to disagreeing well and dialogue across difference matters, and how the university is taking a leading role in this important area.
Professor Boyagoda is Vice-Dean, Undergraduate in the Faculty of Arts & Science and a professor in the Department of English. His work at the university in civil discourse earned him a place on Toronto Life magazine’s list of Toronto’s 50 most influential people in 2024.
