U of T Music delights the ear with their first-ever holiday playlist

Just in time for the start of the holiday season, the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Music has released their first-ever holiday playlist consisting of grad performers and composers – all music alumni!

Whether you’re decorating a Christmas tree, shopping online or staying indoors on a cold winter night, this playlist will warm your heart and set the perfect mood for spending time with your family and friends.

Hosted on Spotify, the playlist offers 21 classic holiday songs totalling just over one hour of music. Noted alums featured include Academy Award-winning film composer Mychael Danna (BMus 1986, BEd 1987), who wrote The Germans Call It A Tannenbaum—incorporating a traditional and timeless melody which accompanied the 2017 motion picture The Man Who Invented Christmas. World-renowned Canadian soprano Measha Brueggergosman (BMusPerf 1999) sings a soulful rendition of The Christmas Song. And five-time Juno Award winner guitarist Liona Boyd (BMus 1972) strums an enchanting instrumental song called Fantasy on Good King Wenceslas.
