Daisy Ho

Master of Business Administration (MBA) 1990

Daisy Ho credits much of her perseverance and strength of character to her experience at the University of Toronto.

Daisy Ho is chair of the University of Toronto (Hong Kong) Foundation, a member of the Boundless campaign executive and serves on the Dean’s Advisory Board at the Rotman School of Management. Her $2-million gift to the University supports an Award for Emerging Leaders at Rotman and created a major new undergraduate program to encourage and support student research projects on contemporary China, and facilitate student exchanges with Chinese institutions.

After getting her MBA from Rotman, Ho worked for several banks in Hong Kong before joining her family firm Shun Tak in 1994 and was appointed an executive director of the company that year. She became the Group's deputy managing director and chief financial officer in 1999. As CFO of Shun Tak, she participated in the strategic planning and development for all four of Shun Tak’s core businesses and was also responsible for its overall financial policy making activities and property investments.

"I’m forever grateful to Canada. The two years at U of T doing my MBA were really the toughest I have gone through. I’ve never worked as hard and it challenged me to my limit, but it helped to develop my strength of character, my perseverance. Sometimes I think, where did I get that? I think it was Canada. It brought it all out."

At the Asia-Pacific launch of Boundless: The Campaign for the University of Toronto, President David Naylor said Ho “is a champion for Canada as a governor of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong.
