MARIO PRIZEK: A QUEER TORONTO BROADCAST PIONEER

TV PRODUCER, TRAILBLAZER, QUEER ARTIST.
Meet an unlikely icon of Canadian culture.

Mario Prizek

Mario Prizek was a groundbreaking CBC producer — a cultural warrior who navigated the closeted 1960s with style. This rare glimpse into the Prizek archives reveals his impact on Canada, as well as the stark contrast between his public and private work.

The virtual event includes:

• A screening of clips from Prizek’s stunning home movies and an episode of the 1965 CBC show, Eye Opener — all from U of T’s Media Commons Archives

• A discussion with Dan Bazuin, former co-owner of Church Street’s beloved This Ain’t the Rosedale Library and Daniel Laurin, PhD student, Cinema Studies Institute

•Q&A with the panellists
