Shelley Peterson has been a committed and enthusiastic ambassador for the University of Toronto, showing unwavering support for the university's students and participating in a wide variety of events on and off campus. Shelley is married to the university's chancellor, the Honourable David Peterson, former Premier of Ontario. At the annual Chancellor's Student Art Exhibit, the Petersons have generously offered monetary prizes to recognize the work of the top three students. As well, Shelley has helped the Chancellor represent the U of T at meetings and receptions at home and abroad, including the Asia-Pacific graduation ceremony in Hong Kong. Shelley, an author and professional actor, participated in the annual reading of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol at Hart House, which raised money for the U of T Food and Clothing Bank.
