Evening hosted by Gabrielle Zilkha – U of T alum, filmmaker and comedian.
Gabrielle Zilkha is an award-winning independent film and TV director, host, comedian and educator. But to keep things simple at dinner parties, she just says she works in sales.
You can catch Gabrielle at the Glad Day Bookshop where she hosts the late-night talk show A Late(ish) Night GAB With Friends.
Most recently, Gabrielle directed the ballroom competition series CBX: A Canadian Ballroom Extravaganza for CBC Gem. Her other credits include writing and directing the essay-driven pop culture documentary feature Queering the Script (Outfest Freedom Award 2018), the feature documentary Doing Jewish: A Story From Ghana and her short comedy, Stop Calling Me Honey Bunny (2013), which was shortlisted for the Iris Prize and the recipient of multiple audience and jury awards.
Passionate about equity and inclusion in the media industry, Gabrielle designs career pathway solutions for BIPOC and 2SLGBTQ+ led organizations like the Trans Film Mentorship, CEE Centre for Young Black Professionals and POV.
Gabrielle is a U of T alumni. She completed her undergrad in Equity Studies, English and Sexual Diversity Studies. But if you ask her parents… she works in sales.
