Dr. Jemy Joseph completed her undergraduate, graduate and Family Medicine degrees at the University of Toronto, while doing medical school at the University of Ottawa. At University of Toronto, Dr. Joseph was a tireless advocate and strived for change at many levels of university administration and student governance. She received the John H. Moss Scholarship, the highest honour to receive in undergraduate education at UofT.

Additionally, Dr. Joseph engaged her advocacy interests through leadership roles in provincial and national medical organizations such as College of Family Physicians of Canada and Ontario Medical Association. In 2013, Dr. Joseph completed a prestigious internship with the World Health Organization (WHO) headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.  Dr. Joseph has been recipient of several accolades including the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012) and New Pioneers Youth Awards (2011) and Rhodes Scholarship finalist (2009).  More recently she was actively engaged in media for her work with COVID-related advocacy.

Dr. Joseph started her medical career as a rural family physician in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.  At present, her career continues to be diverse in both scope and geography.  She does a blend of ER and comprehensive family practice from Toronto to remote parts of Canada in the Arctic. This range has given her the privilege of serving several marginalized communities including First Nations, refugees, immigrants and BIPOC communities. Outside of clinical medicine, Dr. Joseph enjoys teaching medical students, coaching physicians and doing public speaking.

When not working, Dr. Joseph enjoys hiking, visiting animal farms, and travelling.
