Nirshanthika has worked as publicity director for the Biology Students' Association and UNICEF secretary at U of T Scarborough as well as a Nutritional Health Peer Educator at the Health and Wellness Centre. She has volunteered as a clinical research assistant at the Hospital for Sick Children.
