2011 Gordon Cressy Student Leadership Award Recipients

Faculty of Social Work graduate student Rukshan Mehta's focus has been on global development issues. As part of an internship through the U of T's HIV/AIDS collaboration with the University of Namibia, Rukshan worked with the Disability Economic Empowerment Project, a grassroots initiative in Namibia developed by people living with disabilities. She also works with Students for International Development at U of T, spent time working with its projects in Kenya, and has been its secretary, a mentor for new project volunteers and coordinator for its program that gives undergraduate students the chance to do primary research on development issues.
