2009 Gordon Cressy Student Leadership Award Recipients

Shaun's recent election as a Toronto District School Board trustee caps an evolution that began in 2004 with his election to Governing Council. As a student governor, Shaun campaigned for affordable tuition and increased provincial funding for post-secondary education. He also served on Toronto's Children's Services Advisory Committee, advocating more accessible programming across the city. In his role as a school trustee, Shaun successfully secured an $11.5 million increase in English second language programs for new immigrant children. A graduate student at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at U of T, Shaun was named one of “100 young Canadians to watch” by Maclean's magazine in 2000.
