Gordon Cressy Student Leadership Award 2008 recipient
Edwina Fernandes has raised awareness of the barriers to learning that many face in the Scarborough community. Since 2003, she has volunteered with Frontier College @ U of T Scarborough to bring learning and literacy to marginalized communities. The sociology specialist has also worked hard to expand the opportunities for students to volunteer in the community; for example, she helped organize student volunteers for a homework program at a women's shelter.
