One of the first women to graduate from the Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering's chemical engineering department, Betty Hill has been a mentor, role model and advocate for women in engineering, dedicating countless hours of counsel and friendship to female students. Since 2006, she has served on the Engineering Alumni Honours and Awards Committee. She was recently presented with the Leaders of Tomorrow Alumni Appreciation Award by the students of chemical engineering and applied chemistry. The award honours alumni who have volunteered with this innovative mentoring and leadership program for engineering students.
