Frequently asked questions

Do I need to sign up?

Yes, however we are not currently accepting new email requests while we undergo a platform migration. Please check back later.

How do I find my alumni number?

Your alumni number is a unique ten-digit identifier the University of Toronto uses to track all communications we have sent to you, such as your U of T Magazine subscription status. You can find it on the mailing label of any print material we have sent to you, or at the bottom of any email we have sent to you.

Why was an incoming email put in the wrong tab?

U of T is working on upgrades to the spam filtering service that protects your alumni email account. Most individuals will not notice any changes to their email accounts. However, some people using the tabbed or focused inbox features may notice that their inbox has a slightly different algorithm for classifying non-spam messages.

What does “via alumutoronto.onmicrosoft.com” mean?

You may notice a message @via alumutoronto.onmicorosft.com appear when receiving email. This is related to the routing U of T has set up in order to host and maintain the @alumni.utoronto.ca and @alum.utoronto.ca email addresses. Some email providers include this information as part of an email send, however, it does not mean that any of your contacts see your email differently, it is only visible on your end as the receiver.
